Question:
Parent's Question:
"Regarding the homework to draw the picture, _____ wanted to draw Ana from Frozen. But, I think during her interview with the reading buddy she mentioned Dora. Is it okay to draw character Ana. Also, what details should we write on that page?
Mrs. Hosaini Answer:
Great question! Yes, definitely she can use the character from Frozen. However, She is not required to write anything at this point, except the name of the character, for example, she can name her character Asam, Nuha, Amani if she likes. Student should be doing the drawing, colouring etc. to the best of their ability!!! Just try your best........please refer to the "students sample below or view under the writing sample tap"
Thank you

Salaam parents and students,
Salaam parents and students,
- I would like to apologize, but I have been extremely ill, and was unable to update the blog in a timely manner
- Sophisticated Picture Book Project: dear parent I have partnered-up with our grade 2 class to start on a really awesome project that our Kindergarten kids will love! We have been working with our reading buddies since October/November- and it is time to expand on our students knowledge, talent and understanding. The picture book project will be geared towards our KG students, which means that the character that is in the story will be the KG student, it will have the colours that the KG kids like, it will have their own setting, what the story is going to be about, etc. It is an excellent opportunity to explore, create and share what they have learned throughout the year. Mashallah, students are creating sentence and doing punctuation.
- Now, there are several parts to the picture book project, 1st part is conducting an interview - so the grade 2 kids interview the KG students about their likes and dislikes, characters that they would like to include, what types of books they like to read, what type of colours they like, etc. The interview will take about 15-20 minutes - we have completed the 1st part with our PM group and inshallah, waiting to conduct the interview with our AM group
- Once we have completed the project, anticipated time is mid-May-r hen we will invite parents to come and we will share our picture books with them -and have few students present theirs books and what was their experience like.
- I am truly very, very, very excited! I did this particular project with my grade 8 students and grade 1 - and it was a success! -look at the smiling faces tap for pictures!!
- Homework for this weekend will be creating and drawing your character for the picture book project- for example, if the KG students said that she/he likes Tinker Bell or Bell from Beauty and the Beast or Spider man - then have them draw out their character, color it, and put details on their character. I will sent the size of the paper will the drawing should not exceed! Most like I will use the kids pictures and drawing as the title page! I have put examples of detailed characters. If you need more ideas, please refer to the "students sample" KG for ideas! Please check below as well.
- Reading logs went home today-return tomorrow
- Yearbook forms went out today-if your interested in ordering the yearbook please fill-the-form and return June 20th
- Mashallah, Asam did an amazing job today! During the morning - Asam sang a poem/song about cleaning up and how we should do our share- Mashallah, her voice was amazing.

Salaam parents and students:
Salaam parents and students:
- Earth Month: our theme for the month of April is "taking care of our Earth"- we are promoting recycling, reusing, and reducing the 3 Rs. This month we will be talking about our planet and how it is very important to care for it. One example being is water usage -how to reduce water in our household
- Spelling bee: regarding the spelling bee lists - we can not provide the spelling bee to parents or students prior to study. The list is provided to the teachers by the National Canadian Spelling Bee Organization, and it truly defeats the purpose of a spelling bee if the students has the opportunity to practice the words in advance- my suggestion is that practice the tricky words with your child, pick 5 or 6 letter words and have the child try to sound out the word using the phonics sounds and vowels, put the words in a sentence for your child to better understand the word and its meaning. GOOD LUCK please e-mail me if you need any additional support for your child! Mashallah, all of the children are excellent speller, I excited to see what the outcome will be!
- Graduation photos are tomorrow Tuesday April 08
- Example of "F" Levelled book: under the home reading tap-there is an example of an "f" levelled book for parents to look at and practice reading with your children
- Talent show outcomes: Congratulations to Haris and Asma for making it to the talent show!!! Mashallah, mashallah, mashallah.....you truly worked hard!!!
- Wonderful Wednesdays: please check the wonderful Wednesday tap for updated information-and the clubs that your child is for 3rd term
- It is very important that you return the reading logs on time
- Arabic tap is updated-please check
