- Sophisticated Picture Book Project: dear parent I have partnered-up with our grade 2 class to start on a really awesome project that our Kindergarten kids will love! We have been working with our reading buddies since October/November- and it is time to expand on our students knowledge, talent and understanding. The picture book project will be geared towards our KG students, which means that the character that is in the story will be the KG student, it will have the colours that the KG kids like, it will have their own setting, what the story is going to be about, etc. It is an excellent opportunity to explore, create and share what they have learned throughout the year.
The picture book has several parts:
- Part 1: Interview with their reading buddies
- Part 2: Drawing our character
- Part 3: starting the beginning/introduction of the story -setting, character's name, etc.
Beginning part of the story -things to think about or include in the story!
- decide who the characters are
- who is going to be in the story?
- what sort of character are they?
- where and when your story is going to take place
- this is called the setting
- past, present, future
- 4. Part 4: Grade 2 students combined with Kg students will writing the middle part of the story- starting next week inshallah!
MIDDLE part of the story -things to think about or include in the story!
- what is going to happen in your story?
- what is the main event?
- what type of story is it?
Elements to good story writing:
who? when? where? how? what? why?
