I do apologize for the late posting- we has a grade team meeting after-school and it went longer then anticipated!

- Thank you to everyone for returning the home reading books books- I will send them again on Monday inshallah!
- We have resolved the issues with RAZ-KIDS- if you are still having problems with RAz-KIDS please see me in person
- Everyone has reading homework on RAZ-KIDS- click on your assignment when you log into your RAZ-KIDS
- Reminder to bring a water bottle by Monday- ART
- 2nd round of Qur'an competition starts Monday January 27
- Literacy - we continued with our centres today
- Math-during our Math class we continued with Unit 3- lesson 3- students had to use their imagination to build using 3 D objects/shapes

- Literacy class we did our next letter "Y"- yummy, yak, yellow, yes, yell etc. Practice the letter and the treasure words with your child.
- Home reading books were sent home today with new books, read the books with your child, and ask them questions about the book example, who is the character, what is book about, what part did you like, what are couple of words that you learned in the story
- We had reading buddies with grade 2 today in the morning -our afternoon had library time
- please bring a plastic water bottle by Monday - ART
- Science- today we had an excited time during our science. We were busy learning, exploring and experimenting ice and salt. Mario and Luigi were trapped in the ice and we had to find a way to help the brothers out. We brainstormed ways that will melt ice. Students brainstormed "salt and sun" and how it will help with the process of melting. Example, icy roads, what do we put on the roads that will help with melting the ice/snow?
- Regarding RAZ_KIDS level of reading, I will only change the level of reading if the student has improved in class with reading. If the student is able to reading fluently "aa" or "A" books without difficulties, the level in RAZ-KIDS will change as well. Keep practice reading daily!
- Keep of reading nightly 15-20 minutes
- reminder to read and review the tricky words
- We are still working on the RAZ-KIDS problem- trying to resolve the issues.

- First of all I would like to apologize for the late blog posting- all of the teachers were in a meeting, therefore, the meeting went later then anticipated!
- Today was Wonderful Wednesday - all the students enjoyed their clubs, especially the sports club! Mrs. Hone and I are teaching the sports club
- Each child needs to bring a plastic water bottle by Monday- it is for ART!!
- As I had mentioned yesterday, I am still trying to resolve the issues with RAZ-KIDS-Thank you for your patience parents and students!
- In our Math class, we continued to work with "shapes"- we read a small book about shapes. It is an excellent book for beginning reads. The book talked about different types of button shapes. As a class we read the book out-loud and wrote the whole book on the broad and highlighted the tricky words. Then each students had a chance to read a words from the page.
- The books were sent home today , if your child has a blue dot on the top of its page, please review the book with your child and review the shapes and emphasis on the sight words! Please practice reading with your child.
- During our literacy block- we continued with our morning message. It was boys against girls, one student had to write a letter to another student. Therefore, we wrote the letter, but the boys scored more pointing with spelling words out, and with sight words! It is an excellent strategy to encourage students to spell, read and write!

- Thank you to everyone for returning the reading books and the reading log signed and dated! Mashallah, everyone followed the instructions very well! Those students whom forgot their bags at home, please bring them back by Thursday!!!
- Keeping on practicing the "tricky words"- March is around the corner.
- Thank you to another parent volunteer for coming in to our KG class and helping with our art/craft, greatly appreciated.
- Tomorrow is Wonderful Wednesday - AM class attends
- just a reminder to those students whom are in sports club, please bring runners!!
- During our literacy we continued with our "Literacy Centers" - today students changed centers
- If you are unsure as to "what literacy centers are" - refer to agenda notes October 28 -October 31
- Alhamiduallah, we have been doing literacy centers since October/November and mashallah, I observe and see the difference!!!
- KG Grad Pictures were not taken today- the photographers were unable to come. We apologize! Inshallah, we have rescheduled for April!
- Those students who are having trouble with RAZ-KIDS -we are working on the issue and should have an answer soon.
- The students which their RAZ-KIDS are working -please read 15-20 daily
- In ART today we made "mittens" - students had to cut out the mittens and students had to decorate it!! Everyone enjoyed the craft.

- Student Information Update was sent home today, please fill in the missing information and return it no later then Thursday January 23, 2014
- Reminder that Kindergarten graduation photos are being help tomorrow- make sure that you look your best!
- Literacy: we introduced "oo" vowel sounds - cook, look, pool, book, moo, zoo, boo
- Gym: today was an exhausting day for everyone! We played a relay game using "action verbs" (action verbs are verbs that describe an action, for example, run, biking, jogging, crawling, hopping). We divided the class into 5 different groups, and teacher would hold up the action verb example 'hop' then the first person in each group would hop to the middle line and then hop back and set down, and wait for the next word. Mashallah, everyone is doing so well in reading. Most of the words were read by students.
